 Northbound: The Northern Norwegian Adventure

Trondheim → Tromsø (3 days)

As we cross the Arctic Circle and enter the realm of the midnight sun and the Northern Lights, we mark crossing the Arctic Circle with a ceremony as we continue onward into the Arctic regions. In the summer you get to witness the midnight sun, and in the winter days (merely a shade less dark than night-time) the Northern Lights awakes with its magical dance across the sky. Nature is powerful with northern Scandinavia's largest glacier, the world's strongest tidal current and encounters with the majestic sea eagle.

KVARØY ARCTIC

Kvarøy is the salmon island along the Helgeland coastline in Northern Norway.

Here on the very edge of the Arctic Circle one family established a business, Kvarøy Arctic, that has redefined aquaculture into a sustainable practice that supports the environment. Strong currents both from the nutritious Arctic waters mix with the milder Gulf Stream along the Norwegian coast creates a perfect environment for growing salmon. It is ideal for aquacultures. Sustainable open water salmon farming in the deep waters that surrounds the island of Kvarøy.

STØTT, THE OLD TRADING POST

This is a remarkable place on top of Helgeland in Northern Norway – the restaurant offers memorable dining experiences and for those who stay the night, charming and authentic accommodation awaits. On the menu there is always fish, no-wonder since the island is favorable placed to have fresh fish every day.

TIL ELISE FRA MARIUS

Utskarpen Farm is set in an idyllic part of the Helgeland coast. This is a remarkable restaurant established by the couple Elise and Marius, hence the name ToEliseFromMarius, in Norwegian TilElisefraMarius. The village with the same name as the restaurant and hotel. Utskarpen has only a population of 217, which makes it even more enjoyable and astonishing that the couple have succeeded in making this a food destination. Their mantra is from Field to Table.
