Episode 09: The Lofoten Islands

The Loften Islands are spectacular, and this time around Arne loved the idea to open the episode from a mountain top. The main ingredient on today’s menu is Arctic kelp and Frida is excited. She brings Arne to gather the sea vegetables together with Angelita who made this into a business.

Southbound: Voyage South

Kirkenes → Bergen (6 days) 

Southbound: The Arctic Circle and Lofoten

Tromsø → Trondheim (3 days) 

On these southbound voyages, we enter the wild, idyllic Lofoten Islands during the day. Along the voyage, you will definitely get the chance to taste real Lofoten cod, fresh from clean, cold Atlantic waters. Beneath majestic, jagged mountains lie chalky white sandy beaches and fishing villages with a vibrant fishing industry. If the weather permits, we will also enter the narrow Trollfjord, with a large possibility of spotting the legendary sea eagles.

UNSTAD ARCTIC SURF

The bay and small hamlet of Unstad is an arctic surfer's paradise. Surfing in water temperatures between 45 and 57 degrees Fahrenheit (8 - 14 degrees Celsius) is a spectacular adventure. Skills: Intermediate - Advanced, but Unstad Arctic Surf has plenty to offer year-round for surfers of all levels.

KAVIAR FACTORY

This art gallery was really the old KaviarFactory in Henningsvær. After a thorough and complete renovation. the gallery for contemporary art opened in 2013. Run by Venke Hoff who initiated this site for exhibitions for famous and international artists.
