Episode 03: Faroe Islands

Like the Vikings, Arne, Frida and Stig travel to the old Norse settlement, the Faroe Islands. In today’s episode they investigate the culinary hotspots on the islands. They meet singers and a well-known painter in Klaksvik, and in the capital Tórshavn Frida prepares an interesting dish with local seaweed. To top it off, Stig makes a famous drink – shaken not stirred, on the very edge of the North Sea.

FAROE ISLANDS

EAT AT RESTAURANT KATRINA

Restaurant Katrina Christensen - has a vivid history and used to be a barber shop and a store. If these walls could talk - the restaurant is named after the proud owner Katrina who took over the store after the parents to the renowned national author William Heinesen. The menu is inspired by the Faroese nature and surrounding sea. Tapas style kitchen with a strong foot in the Faroese food traditions. Great atmosphere, with a mix of tourists and locals. Enjoy!   

OR EAT AT AARSTOVA

Áarstova restaurant located in the old part of Tórshavn. The menu is rustic and honest based on local seasonal produce and lots of seafood. A signature dish is the slow cooked lamb, so tender you will not need a knife. Try out the local Faroese beers and to top it off - rhubarb pie with homemade ice cream. Vælsmakka - Bon Appétit!
